The War Between the States has since ended but tension with the Native American tribes continued over the loss of their land. During the time of restoration, the United States had begun building a railroad to connect its eastern and western shores. In 1869, the east and west railroads were connected by a golden spike in Promontory Summit in the Utah Territory creating the Transcontinental Railroad.
Author Dr. Jamey M. Long is a teacher in public education. He is the author of ‘A Possum’s Holiday and History’ Series along with other children’s and business books. He is the owner of A Possum’s Company, LLC that provides curriculum, reading, workshops, and educational materials for schools across America. His books have been recognized as a valuable asset by several historical foundations and are sold in their museums and gift shops. He is a member of the faculty at George Mason University and Northern Virginia Community College and was nominated for the NVCC Alumni Federation Faculty of the Year Award. He was also an educator at Holy Cross Academy teaching children in grades K-8 and currently teaches elementary bible school. He has earned a DBA and remains busy supporting educational programs, schools, businesses, and churches. Jamey currently resides in Virginia.
