Is it murder or justice? This mystery “keeps you guessing until the final, thrilling sentence” (Elizabeth Haynes, New York Times–bestselling author of Into the Darkest Corner).
When local sex offender Albie Woodville is killed, it puts DI Harry Powell and DC Hazel Hamilton under immense pressure in the East Rise incident room. They must treat this case the same as any other murder, but they know better than anyone the evil things Albie did when he was alive . . .
But as the investigation progresses, it becomes clear this isn’t just a one-off killing. Someone is out for revenge. Will the team solve the case in time to stop more blood from being shed?
Written by a real life police detective, Mercy Killing is a gripping crime thriller about the thin line between justice and vengeance.

Lisa Cutts retired after twenty-five years with Kent police. She spent most of that time investigating murders for a living and the last ten years of her service writing crime fiction alongside her full-time job. Never Forget, her debut, was longlisted for the Waverton Good Read Award 2013 and the winner of the Killer Nashville Silver Falchion Award 2014 for Best Thriller. Six police procedural and three cosy crime books later, a number of happy events led to her crossing paths with Street Hearts BG, a street dog rescue charity based in Bulgaria. Street Hearts: An Extraordinary Story of Saving Street Dogs was the result of the best research trip ever undertaken and is her first non-fiction book.
Lisa writes a monthly column, Behind the Tape, for Writing Magazine answering police procedural questions from other writers.
In early 2016, she was honoured to become the Patron of Rochester Literature Festival and help establish Murderous Medway, an annual crime fiction festival packed full of amazing author panels.
As well as being on BBC Radio 4’s Open Book, Lisa has twice appeared on This Morning to chat about TV crime dramas Broadchurch and Line of Duty.
Lisa lives in the county of Kent with her husband and Bulgarian rescue dog, Chuckling Custard. Please don’t blame her – or the dog – or Street Hearts – for the name. Her husband wanted a boy.
