With a buyer finally for her family’s desolate holiday home, writer Rose Abbott finds herself back at Lullaby Cottage and the eerie Irish village of Tara Hill, where her six-year-old daughter, Robyn, was last seen before she vanished ten years ago. However, the long list of repairs and a draft of her much-anticipated second book isn’t enough to curb flashbacks of the strange circumstances surrounding the last sightings of Robyn and the effect the Garda investigation had on Rose, her husband David, and their paralysed teenage son, Patrick. A series of peculiar events unfolds during the family’s time at the cottage, prompting Rose to question whether the Garda had got it wrong in declaring Robyn dead when all they found of the little girl was her signature locket that washed up on the shore. Certain her daughter is alive, she recruits the help of rookie officer Alex Hughes to uncover the truth, although in doing so, the pair not only find Robyn’s case is linked to a killing a hundred miles away, but to the accident that rendered Patrick severely brain damaged. Will Rose find out what really happened to Robyn? Or will she succumb to a hidden danger that puts her own life at risk?

Carly Read is a national newspaper journalist for the Daily Express and Daily Star and psychological thriller The Secrets of Lullaby Cottage is her first novel. She has written articles for the The Sun, Daily Mirror and Cosmopolitan while running Flash Features, which provides real life features to UK women’s magazines Take a Break, Real People, Chat, Love It and Pick Me Up. She is currently working on her second book, The Wrong Child, which sees a couple learn their daughter has fallen victim to a sinister kidnap plot.
