This story follows the mysterious Amos Judd who immigrates to the United States as a young child from a foreign land. Being adopted by a farmer and his wife, Amos' identity is further clouded with jewels, rich garments, and extensive amounts of cash that he brings with him as a child. As the book continues we are introduced to a young women who a then older Amos falls in love to.
