Marcus Mouse and friend Rob Rabbit are making preparations to visit their friend Su Squirrel on her birthday. They put a lot of thought into the gifts they will make for their friend Su Squirrel, as they want her birthday to be special. Some enchanting and funny encounters are experienced by them as they walk across country and through the farmyard. They learn lots of interesting things as they make their way to their friend Su’s party. The interactions the friends have with their surroundings and with various animals on their walk through a farm are illustrated by the descriptions of the various animals in their day-to-day activities. An unfortunate encounter with a Grumpy Rat is dealt with by Rob Rabbit in a special way, and as a result, Grumpy Rat experiences an embarrassing downfall. There is much laughter over the surprise element in Marcus’s birthday gift for Su Squirrel. The friends make Su’s birthday a memorable occasion. Reluctantly, the friends have to make preparations to walk home after the party. The light is fading and the weather becomes wet and windy. Sheltering under large leaves, at the riverside, they are taken by surprise by a water vole. Marcus ends his day out with his first flying experience!
