Ana Folhadela was born on the 3rd of July 1974 in Porto, Portugal, and studied Law at Porto´s Catholic University. During her university years, she worked as a Justice Officer. After that, she worked as a Substitute Public Prosecutor and as a Child Protection Services Technician. She finished her Master´s Degree in Law in 2015 with the thesis «The concept of violence in the rape crime and the problem of dissent». In 2014, she was awarded the "Teresa Rosmaninho Human Rights Women´s Rights" Prize, in its 2nd edition by the Portuguese Association of Women Lawyers, for her study entitled «The discriminatory nature of the requirement of other forms of violence other than acting with the victim´s dissent in order to fulfill the rape crime».
