The Lord Is My Shepherd

Ever since I was young I knew that I wanted to be involved in storytelling. I grew up spending much of my time drawing and painting, as well as being an avid reader. When I discovered that book Illustration combines my two great passions, reading and art, I knew that it was the right career choice for me. I chose to illustrate Psalm 23 because it is one of the most beloved, recognizable, and comforting chapters in the Bible. It was one of my personal favorite passages as a child and I wanted to illustrate it in a captivating way. Growing up, I loved this chapter because it displayed the love of God for His children, and described the peace of mind and soul He wishes for them to have. It’s important, especially for kids, to understand that God is a loving God who desires for His family to not be troubled by the cares of life, but to lean on Him for guidance. I wanted to make the verses come alive through imagery that evoked comfort and joy. My goal was to take this text and add vibrant and modern illustrations so as to make it relatable to today’s children. I am a graduate of John Brown University where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Art and Illustration. This is my debut book.
