Amazing Stories Volume 147 is a great collection of action short stories from "The Golden Age of Science Fiction". Featured here are four short stories by three different authors: "Imitation of Death" and "And there was Light" by Lester Del Rey, "Call Him Savage" by Howard Browne, and "License To Steal" by Louis Newman.
Lester Del Rey (1915-1993) was an American science fiction author and editor. He was born in New York City and grew up in various parts of the United States. Del Rey developed a love for science fiction at a young age and began writing his own stories in his teenage years. Del Rey's first professional sale as a writer came in 1937 with his story "The Faithful," which was published in Astounding Science Fiction. He went on to write numerous short stories and novels, including the "Nerves" series and the "Moon Base" series. He also co-authored several books with his wife, Judy-Lynn del Rey. In addition to his writing, Del Rey was also an influential editor in the science fiction community. He worked as an editor for several science fiction magazines, including Galaxy Science Fiction and If. He also co-founded Del Rey Books, a science fiction and fantasy publishing house, with his wife Judy-Lynn in 1977. Del Rey received several awards for his contributions to science fiction, including the Hugo Award and the Nebula Award. He was inducted into the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame in 1999, six years after his death in 1993.
