Somewhere Beyond the Sea is a captivating story of Liz, an American animal rights activist and Kaito, a Japanese dolphin trainer.
Abandoned as a child by self-centered parents, Liz adopts a dolphin as a guardian angel and watches her sister’s drug-induced suicide. As a teen, the angry hands of a boyfriend force her to leave toxic Malibu.
Beaten by his tyrannical father into submission, Kaito leaves his fishing village for Tokyo University to learn to make scientific discoveries. As a social misfit, he is expelled and becomes a successful but reclusive dolphin trainer.
Liz vows to end the capturing of dolphins for human entertainment and travels to Japan.
Kaito clashes with Liz but finds her dedication to dolphins endearing.

Growing up in Northern Minnesota around lakes and exploring woods with my dog, I wanted to become a fish and game officer, vowing I’d never be confined to an office. After graduate school, I moved to New York and sat in a cubicle writing advertising copy. For twenty years, I wrote for others, including corporate speeches, early literacy materials and video memoirs for hospice patients. Finally, I was able to write what I was passionate about: mountain lions, dogs and dolphins, and protecting the environment we all live in. If we cannot save our wildlife, we cannot save ourselves.
