The Dakini Deck Book

The Dakini Deck Book uses 30 of Susan Q Brown's exquisite oil paintings as messengers for self-inquiry. Each painting can be used as a visual prompt to activate the imagination and intuition. Included in the book are 15 powerful and easy meditations to calm the mind and relax the body. Susan has a deep and intuitive connection with the wisdom of yogic teachings. Her paintings, the descriptions and meditations make universal insights found in yoga, tarot, and dakini wisdom accessible to everyone. The sheer beauty of the artwork is in itself a kind of meditation for deepening self-awareness. As readers and participants, we are invited to enter into a dynamic conversation about the world, philosophy, history, art… in short, the universe and humanity's place in it. The Dakini Deck is an inspired and insightful read. Susan gives the reader many ways to interact with each image and it is like having your own teacher in the room.

Susan Q Brown

Susan Q Brown is an American contemporary artist known for her inspired figurative or abstract work that evokes the natural landscape and human forms. While Susan works from her impressions of the natural world, she also draws upon pillars of art history, such as ancient works by Buddhist and Indian artists in the East and Western contemporary masters like Agnes Martin, Hilma af Klint and Yoko Ono. Susan uses richly layered colours, creating dimensional luminosity or flat opaqueness, often with both expressions used in the same work. An alumnus of Vermont College with a concentration in Painting, Susan spent her early years travelling in the United States of America, Mexico, The Caribbean and Europe, absorbing their cultures, painting and sailing. Since 1990, her artistic work has culminated in exhibitions in museums and galleries both indoors and out. Also, the author of the book One Heart, Four Seasons, based on Kundalini Yoga, Susan currently lives in Lyndeborough, New Hampshire along with her artist husband Aaron Brown.
