Bernarda Rojas Valenzuela, Talía García

Chilean writer, teacher and translator Bernarda Rojas Valenzuela was born in Quintero, a coastal town in the Valparaíso Region, Chile. She completed her primary education at Escuela de Niñas N° 44, attending up to the eighth grade. After the 1973 military coup, she moved with her family to the United States, where she completed her secondary and higher education. She earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees in education and also studied English teaching at the University of Chile. She later continued her English studies and learned other languages, which led her to a career in translation, a path she began exploring during high school in Rantoul, Illinois, USA.
Bernarda excelled in higher education because of her perseverance and commitment to her studies. Since then, she has been a devoted lover of literature, the arts, science and technology. After retiring from teaching English, she has focused on translation, interpreting and writing. Her works, rich in emotion and memories of her childhood, have earned her significant recognition from readers who appreciate her respect and empathy for minority groups in contemporary society.
